The Ages of Aegis
Great spans of Time on Aegis are commonly referred to as Ages. Each Age is approximately 14,000 years. Each age is broken up into “Seasons” each is about 2,000 years. When 7 ages have past it is called “A Great Cycle”, roughly every 100,000 years or so.
They are all defined by the great six fold elemental pattern: Air, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood.
Ages, Seasons & Brief Description of the Times; Past to Present
Pre-History: The Age of Demons
Circa 1MYBP: Demons from the Lower Planes discover and begin to inhabit the lush world that will be Aegis. Demons, Yugoloths & Devils from across the far reaches of the multiverse inhabit and conquer the “known” world. The 99 wars of Demon-Kind rage for more than 10,000 years leaving a shattered world by fire.
The Age of Fire: The Age of Dragons.
Season of Fire:
The “Great Shattering”: The world is torn apart by great balls of fire from the heavens, creating the known continents of Aegis.
Season of Earth: The rise and evolution of the Primitive Proto-Giants.
Giants are seduced by “Evil Spirits” (Deamons) to do their bidding and fight their wars.
Season of Metal: Giant-Wars of Aegis give rise to the first Sub-Giant races such as the Formorians and Voadkin.
Season of Water: The Dark Age heralds the arrival of the Aboleths to the Aegis system. Wars arise between the Deamons and Abolthes.
The Evolution of the Illithids.
Season of Wood:
Discovery of Divine Magic by the Giants.
Divine Magic is actually granted to the most loyal and fervent Giant worshippers of the Deamon Lords.
Season of Air:
Arrival of the Dragon-Gods.
The Demon-God Wars rage across the world for more than 1,000 years.
The Dragons are victorious and destroy and banish 99% of all Deamons of the world. They leave only 9 Deamon-Lords trapped
in the barren and desolate land that will be known as “The Demon Wastes” on the Dragon-Isles.
Season of Fire:
The enslavement of the Giants to the Dragon-Gods.
The inter-breeding of the Dragon-Gods and the Giants to create the Titan Sorcerer-Kings.
Age of Stone:The Time of the Ancients
Season of Earth:
The Titans rise as Sorcerer Kings and Half-Dragon Generals to lead their newly enslaved people against the Dragons ancient enemy, the Aboleths.
Season of Metal:
The Dragon Gods depart Aegis leaving the Titans to Evolve and battle the Aboleths.
Season of Water:
The Titans take the War to the Aboleths in the depths of the oceans.
Evolution of the Sea Giants.
Season of Wood:
The Races of True Giants evolve and settle into their respective socio-cultural roles under the rule of the Titans & Sorcerer-Kings.
Season of Air:
Discovery of Sorcery by the Giants. The Giants were the first race that could learn to wield both Divine and Arcane Magic.
Season of Fire:
The Uprising: The Giant slaves, rose up against their Titan Masters. The Giants surprised and overthrew their masters. They killed most of the Titans and destroyed much of their Empire.
The Dragons were forced to return to squash the rebellion, driving the giants into the seas and wastelands.
The Dragons allow the ‘Gelding’ Children of the Giants, the Ogres, to remain; due to their lack of divine or arcane magic. They are quickly indentured to the Dragon-Gods.
Season of Earth:
The Rise of the Ogres & “The second departure of the Dragon-Gods”.
Founding of “The Watchers”:
1 Dragon-Lord of the 6 Elemental types remained behind on the Dragon-Isles to oversee the continued evolution of their realm.
Discovery of the “Draconic Prophecy”
A strict policy of non-interference is adopted by the Dragon-Gods.
Age of Metal: The Age of Hubris.

Decent of the Dwarves:
Criminal Ogres are forced into slavery in the underground mines. These Ogres evolved into the Dwarves.
Season of Water:
Discovery of “the Fallen”: The twisted remaining Giants of the oceans
& Waste Lands.
Season of Wood:
The Great Expansion: Ogres colonize all lands of the world Aegis.
Season of Air:
The Rise of the Elders: High Ogres Rise above the Low Ogre Slaves.
Season of Fire:
The Great Separation: The Elders leave their ancient homelands torn and wasted.
The Elders colonize the western lands in search of new and prolific natural resources.
The Low-Ogres (Proto-Irda) are abandoned in the old wastelands.
Season of Earth:
Rise of the Irda. The Irda rediscover arcane and divine magic and begin to heal their scarred lands.
Season of Metal:
The rise of Technology by the Elders.
Creation of the Dark Races: Goblinoids and Trolls from Low Ogre & Dwarven stock.
Rebellion of the Dwarves: Enslaved Dwarves rise up against their Jotun slavers and create the first Dwarven kingdom.
The Elders experiment with explorations into “The Expanse”.
The arrival of the Eladrin (Star-Elves) via star ships.
The Eladrin make first contact with the Irda.
The Elders are insulted and vow to destroy the “Space-Men”.
The Eladrin inter-breed with the Irda and evolve into the Elves of Aegis.
The Elves create the Eldritch Empire and rival the Elders in power and control of Aegis; Technology (Elders) vs. Magic (Elves).
The Great Wars: The Elders Vie for control of Aegis from the Irda, Eladrin and Elves.
The Black Age: The Age of the Orcs
Season of Water: The Apocalypse:
Elves cleanse the World by High Magic. Tsunamis, earthquakes, fire and brimstone destroy the old empires of the past to begin anew.
The Dark Races invade and conquer most of the lands of the world including the Elven lands.
Season of Wood:
The Retreat: The Elves Retreat to the Forests & Islands.
The Elves create the “Eldritch Ryn Globe” by the High Magic, to ward off the onslaughts of the Dark Races.
Creation of the Eldritch Elven City-States.
Season of Air:
The reformation of the Eldritch Empire by the Elves.
The Vanishing: Most of the remaining true Eladrin leave Aegis. The Irda leave the lands of the mortals to found their own island sanctuary.
The Undying Court of the Elves is established at the City of The Dead.
Season of Fire:
The Dark Wars: The extinction of many races and species on Aegis by the Dark Races.
Season of Earth:
The height of the Dwarven Kingdom of Radrungar, “The One Realm” with the crowning of King Silvervein Moradinson and the creation of the Axe of Dwarvish Lords.
The High Alliance of the Elves and the Dwarves against their common enemy.
Season of Water:
‘The Great Experiment’: The first appearance of Humans.
Humans created by the Elves from Orc-Elf hybrid magic, to be used as fast breeding warriors to counter the onslaught of the Dark Races.
Season of Metal:
The Orc-Gate Wars: The shattering of the Dark Races by the Races of Light (Elves, Dwarves and Humans).
The collapse of “The One Realm” of the Dwarves. Dwarves separate into multiple clans and spread across Aegis.
Green Age: The Age of the Elves
Season of Wood:
The Great Reforestation.
The first Hill Dwarves settlements appear.
Season of Air:
Elves spread throughout Aegis and evolve into 2 primal sub-races of High Elves and Wood Elves.
Season of Fire:
The Cleansing Time: Elves hunt and pursue the Dark Races into the most inhospitable places on the world, claiming dominance of Aegis.
Season of Earth:
Evolution of the Gnomes from the Hill Dwarves.
Emergence of The Gold Dwarven realm of Bhaerynden in the vast caverns that would one day become “The Rift of Ages”.
Humans discover shamanistic magic and migrate across the lands of Aegis. They settle across Athania, Pagaia and to The Dragon Isles.
Season of Metal:
Discovery of the Illithids (Underdark Aboleths)
The Decent of the Drow: The High Elves forced evolutionary split to create the Drow, the People of Darkness. They conscripted Elves from various sub-races to be expertly trained for ruthless underdark survival and combat, for the purpose of waging war against the Illithids.
Season of Water:
The Evolution of Sea Elves.
Discovery the Shaieen: The Fallen Sea Giants.
Season of Wood:
The Great Re-founding of the Divine High Noble Elven Houses across Aegis.
Age of Air: The Age of Mankind
Season of Air: Years: 1 — 2013
Founding of “The Rift of Ages” and the crowning of King Ballinor “The Black” with the Gold Dwarves victory over the Drow in “the great cavern wars”.
Elves teach humans Arcane Magic; Part of “The Great Experiment” to see if a “Low-Race” could wield High Magic.
Elves begin to “re-explore” the expanse via magic-powered sky-ships.
Season of Fire: Years: 2013 — 4025
The first human kingdom on Athania, dubbed “The Great Kingdom” rises in western Athania.
The Great Kingdom expands their territory from west to east encompassing the now know nations of The Great Dale, Thornhold, The kingdom of Lost Souls, Parsimony, Corinthia, Centrasia, The Baron Kingdoms of Pryam, Mercia and Barrakus.
During the reign of the Humans of Great Kingdom Humans establish the Order of Wizards & Magi out of the remnants of the Council of Mages.
The Order begins to war against the sorcerers, forcing sorcerers to go “underground” and found the creation of The Society of Sorcery.
The “Death” of the Sorcerer God Sirius occurs by unknown means.
In the wake of Sirius’ death many sorcerers flee to the lush tropical islands of the south sea and create the nation of Ath’ia.
The Desert nomads of Azaania found the City-State of Skalaaria. It quickly rises to become a Nation-State and falls due to overindulgence in dark magics. The peoples of Azaania return to their nomadic ways and reject magic.
The Great Kingdom rules for almost 2,000 years before falling to corruption and indulgences in magic.
Season of Earth: Years: 4025 — 6048
Evolution of the Halflings from Gnomes.
The Barron Kingdoms arise from the ashes of the Great Kingdom.
The Founding Shanarath in the swamps of Deomir.
Aman is founded in the fertile belt of Azaania by outcast Vizirs of the Desert Tribes.
The Nobles-Wars breakout between the Elves and the Baron Kingdoms in western Athania.
Season of Metal: Years: 6048 — (7643 / 1595)
The Signing of the Eldritch Pact between the Humans and The Elven Nation
The Barron Wars consume most of Athania over power and resources.
The Northern Un-Human Wars: The fledgling human states of Athania, the Elves and Dwarves ally themselves against the forces of the Dark Races. The N.U.W.’s reeks havoc across Athania, but the “Races of Light”, led by the Knights of the Dragon Watch, are victorious.
In the wake of centuries of war, the humans of Athania have founded 6 powerful nations: The Great Dale, Parsimony, Corinthia, Deomir, Ath’ia and Aman.
The Nation of Vaasa arises in the wake of the Northern Un-Human wars.
The Elven Empire grants the Humans of Nordica termed land rights on the eastern shores of Athania.
The conglomerate Dwarven Nation arises in The Kvaas. Dwarves introduce the first industrial technologies and create the Dwarven rail to interconnect the lands of Athania.
The first signs of Psi ability in non-aboleth/Illithid beings appear on Aegis.
The Disciples of The Avanjion are formed in the Elven Eldritch City of Nathar-Ryn
