The Bohemians

The Bohemians

Bohemians are a subculture of wanderers, gypsies, artists and minstrels. They are in a constant state of searching for meaning, love and the purpose of their lives.  The wander from city to city, village to village, traveling to any area that they wish to explore, and will tolerate them.  They display their wares, sing epic ballads and often read the fortunes of those willing to listen to them.

Bohemians will often meet up in larger areas and band together to trade wares and stories, and often to take new lovers. Bohemians will often ride with one camp for a while, meet up with another and switch camps.  Bohemians often have many friends and family members in several different camps across the Athania.

Bohemians are not welcome in many places for fear of “Warlocks” amongst their numbers.  The Order (see below) will often harass Bohemians as to having warlocks amongst their number, and many a bohemian camp has been destroyed by The Order.  This disdain also stems from the bohemians trade in illicit goods, such as drugs and minor magical items.

Several of their numbers have become famous due to their artistic talents.  Currently the most famous Bohemian is a female half elven bard named Nyienve Sedai, she and her Band are also know as “Ban-shea”.  Her caravan travels and tours the lands of Athania frequently.  She, and her band, have played for courts and kings, and often play for common folk for free.
